Winter get-away to - Sun Mountain Lodge

Sun Mountain Lodge Christmas of 2008
Dan and I talked about what we wanted to do for the
Holidays. Since we were busy for our 5th Anniv and
Christmas was coming up, we thought what about going
away. We have never done this just, skip out on family
but it wasn't like that. We weren't skipping out on them,
we just felt we needed this for us. I also felt that since
just loosing my dad this past March that I would like some
time of solitude. We had a great time, and Dan was a great
sport he even got a professional massage!
The first thing Dan did when he looked in the bathroom was
get into the jetted tub, he is normally too big for any tub.
He had plenty of room, which made him happy!
Well I guess we will both fit!

The bed, it seemed very BIG. The curtains are closed but
they open up to a outside deck.

Picture from the bed to the lounging area. Dan is at the desk.

This is a picture from the bed to the bathroom,
you can see they have doors that swing so can see in
the tub or not. A really nice feature, something to consider
if ever build our own.

They spray and clear the ice everyday. I was the
first one on Friday morning; the ice was really nice.
So enjoyable skating when surrounded by beauty.
Wish I had my own pond, but it wouldn't freeze in the Northwest.

WOW I can still do a spiral!

Dan in action with the snowshoes, it is a good workout!
Overall we went approx 1.5 miles

Dan taking a break from snowshoeing, or just
waiting for me to catch up.

This is the view from the dining room, we were at breakfast

Here is the lobby it has two huge fireplaces, nothing
like wood heat. Very cozy place to get warm before going outside

Getting warm in front of the BIG fire

This is the HUGE wine cellar, we
wanted to get a pic with the polar bear!

The lodge has mounts all over, we thought this
one was interesting with the wild boar, and two Javelins

We stopped in Leavenworth for lunch, on the way home

BIG snow Dec 2008

This is the bank that I work at, as you see there are no sidewalks!
Dan and the neighbor getting a game plan to shovel
the driveway. Or just chatting, which they do often.

Dan and Lou(neighbor) shoveling lots of snow, it is a
good thing or we would still have a mess.

On my way to work I couldn't pass this pic with the
fog and fresh snow, how beautiful minus the electircal wire!

Took a quick pic before work. Yellow house looks nice
with white snow, wish it could stay if our lives could go
on as normal. Dan didn't work for 2-3 weeks, I worked
everyday, although my boss had to pick me up on top
of the driveway twice.

lights of Christmas- Stanwood 2008

My mom had 2 free tickets to go to the lights of
Christmas. So after the first snow we went. It
was very cold but worth seeing with snow all around.
The nativity scene was amazing; everything was life sized
Combination of snow and white lights; so pretty

Really looks like a firework don't you think, they do an amazing job.
